Rides and rap

Funkmaster Flex has moved beyond the turntable in the past couple of years to star in Ride With Funkmaster Flex on Spike TV, talking cars with celebs from Missy Elliott to Mariah Carey.

On Saturday, Funkmaster Flex brings his Celebrity Car Show, featuring music and tricked-out rides, to the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa. The event was held in St. Petersburg's Vinoy Park last year and featured performances by 50 Cent and G-Unit, plus other rappers. The City Council was flooded with calls protesting the volume and content of the music.

To try to avoid similar complaints this year, the music will be indoors. Acts scheduled to appear include Chingy, Juvenile, Petey Pablo and Mobb Deep.

The stars of the show, though, are expected to be custom cars belonging to 50 Cent, Ashanti, Elliott and others, along with trucks, imports, Euros and more.

The show starts at 2 p.m. Saturday at the fairgrounds, U.S. 301 off Interstate 4. $19.57-$59.50. (813) 621-7821.
