A VIDEO OF VERDI'S "AIDA' will be shown at 12:30 p.m. today at the Centennial Library, 5740 Moog Road, Holiday (1.2 miles east of U.S. 19). The production was staged by La Scala and stars Luciano Pavarotti as Radames and Maria Chiara as Aida. Admission is free.

ALLTEL'S "A NIGHT IN THE TROPICS' will be held from 5 to 11 p.m. today in downtown New Port Richey. The Latin bands Somos Musica and El Caribe and the classic rock group Rhythm Xpress will perform from 6 to 11 p.m. Flamenco dancer Paquita Dawson will dance between sets. Ethnic food will be for sale throughout the festival. Beer, wine and Bacardi slushies will be for sale in Cavalaire Park (behind the former Moose Lodge); there will be umbrellas and tables in the park. The event will feature a classic car cruise-in and one-day memberships in the Krewe of Blue Parrot for $30.

"FABULOUS 50'S AND 60'S REVUE,' today through Sept. 26 at the Show Palace Dinner Theatre, 16128 U.S. 19, Hudson. THE DE LEI'ED PARROTS and one of the winners in the Tarpon Recreation Talent Show will perform at the Sunset Beach Concert at Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs at 7 p.m. Thursday. A box lunch of a hot dog, chips, potato salad and cookie, as well as soda and water, will be for sale. Picnics are welcome. Kids' time with prizes will be held at intermission. No pets or alcoholic beverages are allowed. The concert is free, but a donation will be accepted by Friends of Music on the Beach.

CENTURY OPERA will hold auditions for Constantine Grame's political musical farce, The Spoiler, at 7 p.m. Aug. 29 and 30 at Tarpon Springs Cultural Center, 101 S Pinellas Ave. (Alt. U.S. 19), Tarpon Springs. Roles are for three baritones, one soprano, one alto and a large mixed chorus. EXPRESSIONS, THE DANCE COMPANY, will hold a hip-hop and breakdancing workshop for ages 12 and older from 2 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 29 at the Centre for Dance, Drama and Music, 6646-48 Ridge Road, Port Richey. Instructor will be Eric Thomas, the artistic director of Collective Soul Urban Jazz Company, who has performed at Disney World, Universal Studios and in Europe.
