Ah, yes. Here's another introspective lifestyle online mag aimed at 20- and 30-somethings. Just what we all need. But wait. Hatch is actually well written and interesting. If you're facing down the end of your 30s or midway into your 20s, there's some common ground to share here.
I was due to fly into the Tampa Bay area on Friday the 13th. Of course, all flights were canceled because of Charley's impending wrath. I was far enough away not to get the meaty kind of news a property owner would like and didn't want to bug friends and neighbors every 15 minutes to see what was going on. I wish I'd been glued to these birds-eye-view blogs instead of having to rely on sketchy, microscopic video feeds.
Being on the blunt end of rejection is something to fear. But perhaps dishing out rejection is something even more worrisome. What's a person to do if you're approached in a cafe, in a bar, on the bus, and just can't deal with the awkward thought of saying "thanks, but no thanks"? Give them anything-you-like@papernapkin.net and just pray you don't run into them again I suppose.
The next time you fear getting a trashy gift from a well-meaning traveler to New York City, you literally might get what you fear. This artist apparently combs the streets of Gotham, picks up trash and seals it in an acrylic plastic cube for your visual delectation. It's inspired.
Programmers who write open source software - the kind of software you give away along with the code "recipe" for making it - tend to have a skewed sense of humor. Consider the non-open source Opera browser. If you use it in free mode, it displays ads within the browser and, frankly, I find this annoying. However, I'm delighted to load up the AdBar extension to the FireFox Web browser I use daily. It queries Google against the content you're viewing and displays pithy encouragement about the Mozilla project when you're viewing nothing.
