BROOKSVILLE - A 39-year-old former Spring Hill man faces charges that he sexually molested a minor girl over the course of several years.
According to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, Lon J. Othouse, whose current address is listed as 12047 E Eldred Lane in Homosassa, was charged with two counts of sexual battery and two counts of lewd and lascivious conduct toward a child.
During the course of the investigation, the girl, now a teenager, told authorities that from 1997 to 2002 she and a sibling often stayed at Othouse's Spring Hill residence and would alternate sleeping in bed with him.
The girl told investigators that when she was in bed, Othouse repeatedly fondled and performed oral sex on her. In addition, he would also force her to perform sexual acts on him.
The girl said it was not until she confided in a friend from her church about the abuse that she decided to come forward and make a complaint with authorities.
A check of Florida Department of Law Enforcement records revealed no criminal history for Othouse. He was being held without bail Tuesday.
