Dozens of puppies, kittens and adult dogs and cats will be looking for good homes at the Summer Pet Adoption Expo on Saturday at the Florida State Fairgrounds. About 30 groups that shelter or rescue animals will be there, including groups specializing in basenjis, greyhounds, Boston terriers, English springer spaniels, retrievers, poodles, cocker spaniels, Old English sheepdogs, miniature pinschers, pugs, basset hounds, Welsh corgis, beagles, Yorkies and, of course, mutts.

And that's just the dogs. A wide spectrum of cats will be available, too.

Already have a pet? Those that are friendly to humans and other animals are invited - as long as they are on a leash. Plus there are vendors, pet photographers and more. Admission is $3 and benefits No More Homeless Pets in Hillsborough County.

The hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Florida State Fairgrounds, U.S. 301 off Interstate 4, Tampa. $3. 813 876-7310 or (813) 621-7821. For more information about the event and links to each animal shelter group, go to www.nmhp-hc.org
