ZEPHYRHILLS - A Zephyrhills High School student was treated at East Pasco Medical Center on Thursday after swallowing a blue chemical in science class.
The student was using cupric sulfate, a hazardous crystalline powder regularly used in classroom experiments, in a lab Thursday morning.
"For some reason, he decided to drink some of it," principal Jim Davis said. The amount ingested was unclear.
The student then "regurgitated a bit," Davis said.
Officials contacted his parents, and Pasco County Fire Rescue took him to the hospital.
He had been released in good health by early afternoon, hospital spokesman Jerry Sterner said.
