VISUAL ARTS

ART ANNUAL 2004 continues through Sept. 3 at Pasco Arts Center, 5744 Moog Road, Holiday (east of U.S. 19). Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.

CONTEMPORARY GEOMETRIC WORKS by French artist Auguste Herin and others will be at the recently refurbished Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art, 600 Klosterman Road (two blocks west of U.S. 19), Tarpon Springs, from Sunday through Oct. 24. A reception will be 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 18. Admission to the reception is $10. Admission to the museum is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, and free to children and students with ID. Sundays are free. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, 5 to 9 p.m. Thursdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays.

AUDITIONS AND WORKSHOPS

RICHEY SUNCOAST THEATRE will hold auditions for the comedy Wife Begins at 40 at 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the theater, 6237 Grand Blvd., New Port Richey. Roles are open for four men and two women. Production dates are Oct. 21-Nov. 7. Director is Carlos Warner. Call 842-6777.

CENTURY OPERA will hold auditions for Constantine Grame's political musical farce, The Spoiler, at 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Tarpon Springs Cultural Center, 101 S Pinellas Ave. (Alt. U.S. 19), Tarpon Springs. Roles are for three baritones, one soprano, one alto and a large mixed chorus. Production dates are Nov. 19-21 at the Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center; rehearsals will be at the arts center. Director is Constantine Grame; choreographer is Jane Russell Geddings.

EXPRESSIONS, THE DANCE COMPANY, will hold a hip-hop and breakdancing workshop for ages 12 and older from 2 to 5 p.m. Sundayat the Centre for Dance, Drama and Music, 6646/48 Ridge Road, Port Richey. Instructor will be Eric Thomas, the artistic director of Collective Soul Urban Jazz Company, which has performed at Disney World, Universal Studios and in Europe. AUDITIONS FOR "THE NUTCRACKER' ballet will be held by Expressions, the Dance Company, on Sept. 4 at the Centre for Dance, Drama and Music, 6646/48 Ridge Road (southeast corner of Ridge Road and Congress), Port Richey. Auditions for ages 13 to adult are at 1:30 p.m.; for ages 10 to 12 at 2:30 p.m.; and ages 6 to 9 at 3:15 p.m. Audition fee is $5. Production dates are Dec. 10 and 11 at the Center for the Arts at River Ridge. Rehearsals will be at the Centre for Dance, Drama and Music.

THE THURSDAY MUSICALE is taking applications for members by calling Sally Cartier at 938-5652. Applicants must be able to read music, attend weekly rehearsals on Tuesday mornings and perform the first Thursday of each month from October through April. Rehearsals and performances are at Living Word Church, 5151 Rowan Road, New Port Richey (note venue change). The first rehearsal is 9:15 a.m. Sept. 7. Director is Henry Fletcher.

LOOK AHEAD

THE PIONEER FLORIDA MUSEUM will hold "Pioneer Florida Days Festival" 9 a.m. to 4 p.m on Sept. 4, 5 and 6. All three days will have live entertainment, children's activities, antique exhibits, arts and crafts, trash and treasure sales, antique tractors and cars, and lots of food. Sept 4's special activities include a free pancake breakfast for the first 500 people, or until noon, the Little Miss Pioneer and Little Master Pioneer contest at 2 p.m. and the Outhouse Race at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 5 will feature all-day gospel music, a Civil War battle re-enactment at 2 p.m. and a spaghetti dinner. Sept. 6's activities include the battle at 2 p.m., a crafts show and the "Famous Fish Dinner." Admission is $6 for adults, $2 ages 12 and younger. A three-day pass is $12. Parking is free. The museum is off U.S. 301 north of downtown Dade City.

THE ANNUAL LABOR DAY WEEKEND FESTIVAL of bluegrass music will be held Sept. 3-5 at Sertoma Youth Ranch off Clay Hill Road, 6 miles west of Dade City (take exit 293 off Interstate 75 and follow the signs). Shows are 1 to 11 p.m. Sept. 3 ($16); 12:45 to 11 p.m. Sept. 4 ($16); and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 5 ($12). Ages 12-16, $2; ages 11 and younger, free when with an adult. Campsites with or without electrical hook-up are available. Pets must be on leashes. Food booths will be open for breakfast and throughout the day. Take lawn chairs and bug repellent. THE MUSICAL "GUYS AND DOLLS' will be presented at Richey Suncoast Theatre Sept. 9-26. Performances are 8 p.m. Sept. 9 and the following three Fridays and Saturdays; and at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 12, 19 and 26. Tickets are $15. Call 842-6777.

THE MUSICAL "HELLO, DOLLY' will be presented by the Performing Arts Center Theatre Department at the Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center Sept. 9-19. The center is at 324 Pine St., Tarpon Springs. Performances are at 8 p.m. Sept. 9, 10, 11, 16, 17 and 19, and at 2 p.m. Sept. 12 and 19. Director is Dick Poole. Tickets are $18. Call (727) 942-5605.
