NORD EICHENRIED, Germany - Spain's Miguel Angel Jimenez won the BMW Open, his fourth title on the European tour this season, and Colin Montgomerie was one of six golfers to claim Ryder Cup berths Sunday.
Bernhard Langer chose Montgomerie and Luke Donald with his captain's picks, giving England five players on the team.
Englishmen Paul Casey finished third to secure one of four guaranteed spots and was joined by countrymen David Howell and Ian Poulter and Irishman Paul McGinley.
Jimenez birdied Nos. 11, 13 and 14 to break open a duel with France's Thomas Levet and win by two strokes at 21-under 267. He finished with 66.
"This is my best year of my career, with all the top 10 finishes," the 40-year-old Spaniard said. "I was relaxed, I've been relaxed all year. Maybe it was to my advantage that they were all fighting for a Ryder Cup berth."
Levet shot 68 for 269, and Casey, Colin Montgomerie and Germany's Alex Cejka were another three back.
Jimenez and Levet had secured Ryder Cup spots through the world ranking list. Padraig Harrington, Sergio Garcia, Darren Clarke and Lee Westwood also wrapped up berths last week.
Montgomerie shot a final-round 68, and challenged for the lead until bogey at 13. The 41-year-old Scotsman has been one of the Ryder Cup's best the past decade, playing on five European winners and never losing in singles.
Fredrik Jacobson, who entered the weekend 13th on the money list, was in fourth place and pressing Poulter and McGinley until bogey at No. 15. He finished with 69 and in a tie for sixth at 15 under.
