Crosswalk work to close Lemon Street

TARPON SPRINGS - Lemon Street at Safford Avenue will be closed to traffic until 5 p.m. Friday as workers finish a crosswalk. Traffic will be diverted to alternate routes. For more information, call the Tarpon Springs engineering department at (727) 942-5608.

Tarpon firefighters to hold ball Sept. 11

PALM HARBOR - Several New York firefighters are expected to attend Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue's second annual firefighters' ball Sept. 11 at the Westin Innisbrook Resort. The event will raise funds for the Florida Burn Camp in Umatilla and other causes. Organizers hope to sponsor and send 10 children to the camp. Organizers are seeking gifts of merchandise or services for a silent auction along with sponsors and corporate hosts. Tickets are $50. Call fire Chief Kevin Bowman or Fire Marshal Rick Butcher at (727) 938-3737.
