Mandatory evacuation of Hernando mobile home residents begins at noon

In Hernando County, mandatory evacuation of mobile home residents begins at noon today. Officials anticipate tropical force winds of 70 mph and heavy rainfall tonight and Sunday. Eight shelters are already open, with about 70 people in them. Officials are telling people who live in low-lying flood prone areas advised to take protective action.
