Storm forces events rescheduling

The following closings, cancellations and reschedulings of events have been made because of Hurricane Frances:

All Hernando County parks are closed until after the storm and cleanup has been completed.

The Withlacoochee State Forest and all recreation areas and facilities are closed until the storm passes and any damage is assessed. Ungated areas are off limits to the public until the storm passes.

The Patrick Melton Medical Fund benefit planned Weeki Wachee Springs-Buccaneer Bay has been postponed until Saturday and Sunday, said the attraction's marketing director, John Athanason.

All weekend events sponsored by the Hernando County POW/MIA Committee at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10209 in Spring Hill have been canceled.

The Pioneer Florida Festival that was scheduled to run through today has been postponed to Saturday and Sunday. It will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pioneer Florida Museum and Village, off U.S. 301, 1 mile north of Dade City.
