The Spring Mermaids Service Unit of Girl Scouts of Suncoast Council has canceled its Registration Rally scheduled for Saturday at Fellowship Wesleyan Church in Spring Hill, and also the Skating Party for Sunday at Rainbow Roller Rink in Brooksville. The events will be rescheduled for a later date.
The Patriot Day Program scheduled for Saturday in front of the Hernando County courthouse has been canceled. The event will be rescheduled for a later date.
The Scottish Club of West Central Florida has rescheduled its covered-dish luncheon and meeting to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Marine Corps League Detachment on Sunshine Grove Road, Brooksville. For information, call Chris Ruckdeschel at 796-0170.

Give away of surplus textbooks, 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at the School Distribution Center at 8050 Mobley Road, Brooksville. For information, call 797-7060. Hernando County Family YMCA's third annual Run to Remember, 7 a.m. Saturday, 1300 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill. This is a 5K memorial run (or 1-mile walk) followed by a brief prayer service and continental breakfast. There is no charge and all participants will receive an event T-shirt. "We Will Not Forget" NYCPD 10-13 Club fundraiser, Saturday, VFW Post 10209, 15166 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill. An outdoor ceremony will be at 3 p.m., dinner and entertainment will be indoors from 4 to 8 p.m. Music will be provided by DJ Richie G. Tickets are $20. This event is in memory of those who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001, attack on the World Trade Center in New York City. Hernando County Fine Arts Council's fifth annual Classical Elegance at Twilight, Saturday at the Palace Grand off Commercial Way, Spring Hill. The event will feature social hour, three-entree buffet dinner, and music by the Florida Orchestra Brass Quintet, which will include a commemoration of the events of Sept. 11, 2001. Daly Detachment 1002 annual scholarship golf tournament, Saturday at Heritage Pines Golf and Country Club, off County Line Road. There are still spaces open for golfers. The event will include a memorial service in remembrance of Sept. 11, 2001, which will start at 11 a.m. The ceremony will be provided by the Marine Corps Honor Guard and Firing Squad.
