TAMPA - Two men smoking crack in a north Tampa apartment got into an argument early Wednesday over a wallet.

The dispute ended with one man shot to death and the other in jail on a charge of second-degree murder, according to the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office.

Raymond Jacobs, 42, of 3714 E Henry Ave., was smoking crack with his girlfriend at the apartment of John Wayne Oliver, 47, about 2:30 a.m., said sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter. Oliver accused Jacobs and his girlfriend, who wasn't identified, of stealing his wallet.

He pointed a revolver at Jacobs and shot him in the side of his chest, Carter said.

Deputies arrested Oliver at the apartment at 14425 Hellenic Drive. He is being held at the county jail. Rescue workers took Jacobs to University Community Hospital, but he died at 3:25 a.m.
