CLEARWATER - Clearwater police arrested two men in unrelated sexual attacks over the Labor Day weekend.
Isaac Inocent Masanga-Musooli, 31, of Clearwater is charged with kidnapping and sexual battery. Police said he picked up a woman in his car, then tried to have sex with her against her will. A police officer interrupted the incident and arrested him early Saturday morning. Masanga-Musooli was arrested on the same charges in Largo last year, though prosecutors decided not to pursue that case.
The second weekend incident occurred early Sunday when police arrested Kahlil Amir Sharif, 54, on charges of sexual battery and robbery. Police said Sharif, also known as Bobby Peterson, grabbed the victim in the 1100 block of LaSalle Street. He allegedly pulled her into the bushes, stole her purse and sexually battered her, police said. The victim and a witness identified Sharif as the attacker, arrest reports state. Both men have pleaded not guilty. Sharif was held Wednesday in the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $70,000 bail. Masanga-Musooli was in jail pending bail of $100,000.
