Tactile is the word that comes to mind when describing the work in two exhibitions opening Saturday at Florida Craftsmen Gallery, 501 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. Though touchy-feely, they're not. John Penrod's turned wood vessels and objects, such as the one above, have a cerebral serenity while begging to be stroked and held. Rocky Bridges' mixed-media work, usually incorporating found objects, plays with your mind in more fun-house ways. Both exhibitions are on view through Oct. 22 and are part of the Downtown Arts Association Art Walk on Saturday. Regular gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. An opening reception, free to the public, is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. (727) 821-7391.
