Debris pickups begin, more scheduled later

Tampa solid waste crews started picking up light debris Thursday, including garbage bags with tree trimmings and small branches. Residents can bag and stack these items where they normally set out the trash.

Heavy debris, including tree trunks, large limbs and building material will be collected starting next week by a debris clearing company contracting with the city, officials said.

These items should also be placed where residents usually set out their trash. If practical, heavy debris should be cut into 5-foot sections. Building materials should be separated from trees and shrubbery.

For information, call (813) 348-1111.

Hillsborough County announced Thursday it has begun special debris clearing operations throughout the county. Contractors will work 10-hour days for the next week and possibly longer, collecting all debris left at the curb. Their work is in addition to the county's regular trash and debris collection.

Residents can also deliver large loads of yard waste to one of the following county yard-waste processing facilities: Northwest Facility, 8001 W Linebaugh Ave.; Falkenburg Facility, 350 Falkenburg Road; or South Facility, U.S. 41 just north of Big Bend Road.

For information in the county, call (813) 272-5680.
