Metropolitan Ministries announced Thursday that donations of nonperishable food items are needed to help storm victims. It asked for goods such as canned meats, cereal, canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, jelly, rice, Gatorade, juices, granola bars, instant coffee and tea.

Metropolitan Ministries, a nonprofit agency providing aid to the poor and homeless, also needs volunteers to help sort and pack donated food into boxes and to distribute the boxes to families.

Donations can be dropped off at the donation center at 2101 N Florida Ave., Tampa, Tuesday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Mondays from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Nonperishable items can also be dropped off at the Ferman Automotive dealerships at 11025 N Florida Ave. and 1307 W Kennedy Blvd.

Financial donations can also be accepted online at www.metromin.org or by calling 813 209-1000.
