Pasco-Pinellas Circuit Court will be closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday under the threat of Hurricane Ivan, according to a memo Friday from Circuit Judge David Demers, who is the chief judge over the circuit.

"Since an evacuation order may be issued over the weekend, I think it is prudent to close the courts next week," Demers wrote.

Courts were already due to be closed Thursday for the Rosh Hashana holiday.

Demers said he consulted with the State Attorney, Public Defender, clerks and sheriffs of both counties before making his decision.

The ruling means a variety of civil and criminal hearings will have to be rescheduled.
