MIAMI - An approaching hurricane failed to faze the Tennessee Titans, and the Dolphins offense didn't give them much trouble, either.
Tennessee made three interceptions Saturday, including one in its end zone and another returned 37 yards for a touchdown by Lamont Thompson, and beat Miami 17-7.
To avoid bad weather associated with Hurricane Ivan, kickoff was moved up 24 hours, which scrambled the Titans' itinerary. But they improved to 43-30 on the road under coach Jeff Fisher.
Both Jay Fiedler and A.J. Feeley struggled to move the Dolphins. Fiedler threw two interceptions, drew boos and was replaced at halftime with Miami trailing 7-0. Feeley, under pressure from a blitzing Keith Bulluck, was intercepted by Thompson for Tennessee's second touchdown.
"He threw it right to me," Thompson said. "That worked out easy for me, because all I had to do was catch it and run with it."
The Dolphins, who tied a franchise record with 14 penalties, averted a shutout when Feeley threw a 15-yard touchdown to Randy McMichael with 3:22 left.
Chris Brown, making his first start as Eddie George's replacement, set up a touchdown with a 52-yard run, the Titans' longest since 1998. Brown gained 100 yards in 16 carries but sat out the second half with a sprained left ankle.
Steve McNair threw only 14 passes - one for a score - and the Titans outrushed the Dolphins 182 yards to 65.
"When you've got a great running back in Chris, and when you have a passing attack like we've got, what do you defend?" McNair said.
BROWNS QB IN SCUFFLE: Jeff Garcia's girlfriend was charged with assault in a bar fight last month with a woman the Cleveland quarterback once dated.
Garcia was with Carmella DeCesare when they were confronted Aug. 21 by Kristen Hine in a nightclub. DeCesare "launched" herself at Hine three times, Hine told police. Hine said that when she turned to leave DeCesare kicked her in the head.
Hine, 32, of Cleveland wasn't hurt but filed a police complaint accusing DeCesare of assault, a first-degree misdemeanor. DeCesare, 22, of suburban Westlake pleaded innocent Friday in Cleveland Municipal Court and remained free on $5,000 bond.
GIANTS: Cornerback Frank Walker broke a bone in his right foot and will not play in today's opener against the Eagles. It's not clear how long he will be sidelined.
PACKERS: Former Bucs cornerback Al Harris agreed to a five-year contract extension worth about $19-million, including more than $7-million in bonuses, his agent, Jack Bechta, confirmed to the Associated Press. Bechta said he and Packers chief negotiator Andrew Brandt had been talking since July about a new deal for Harris, who will make $1.35-million this season. Harris's play and leadership in training camp prompted the Packers to get a deal done now rather than risk letting him become an unrestricted free agent after the season, coach-general manager Mike Sherman said.
RAVENS: Offensive tackle Tony Pashos was signed off the practice squad and special-teams veteran Harold Morrow was cut, moves that likely mean offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden will not play in today's opener. Ogden, who sprained his knee in the preseason finale, has started 58 straight games. The seven-time Pro Bowl lineman would be replaced by Ethan Brooks.
VIKINGS: Right tackle Mike Rosenthal, in his second season with Minnesota, signed a six-year contract extension. The deal is worth about $15-million, including $3-million in guaranteed money. A fifth-round draft choice of the Giants in 1999, Rosenthal started every game for the Vikings last season.
