College football

Got a minute? Stephen Nicholas, LB

USF Linebackers coach Wally Burnham gave you the nickname "Snake" and says you fit through gaps as if you had no bones in your body. There are worse things a coach can call you.

We were watching film, and I always squeeze through the linemen and make a play. He's like, "Snake, get on through there!" He's kept saying it ever since.

So what's your guilty-pleasure can't-miss TV show?

Hmmm . . . I really don't have one. It should come to me, but it isn't. Sometimes I catch BET, but I don't watch much TV. Am I ruining your questions?

What NFL linebackers do you like watching the most?

Derrick Brooks and Sam Cowart. (Burnham) coached both of them (at Florida State). Brooks is speed, and he's a smart guy. He knows the game well.

A lot of the players said they got through that long first hurricane weekend with a lot of PlayStation. You a Madden player?

I'm not that good. They beat me all the time. Pat Julmiste is pretty good.

For you, what was the best part of finally playing a game on Saturday?

Just coming out. We missed the first game and had to wait, so it was exciting. I was very excited, holding all that in and finally playing.
