Man arrested at hotel after guns, drugs found

NEW PORT RICHEY - A 25-year-old man was arrested Monday after deputies found cocaine, marijuana, guns and a bullet-proof vest in his room in the Best Western hotel on U.S. 19.

Deputies went to the room at the request of the hotel's manager.

Daniel Eugene Gilman was inside, along with a .22-caliber semiautomatic pistol, a fully loaded .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol, 101 grams (nearly a quarter-pound) of marijuana, 20.12 grams of cocaine and the bullet-proof vest, according to a sheriff's report.

Gilman of 9101 New York Ave. in Hudson was being held in the county jail Wednesday without bail. He faces charges including possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm by a felon.
