TAMPA - Authorities have identified a body discovered Thursday on Egmont Key as Christopher M. Henry, a 25-year-old Bradenton man missing since his 2002 Chrysler sedan crashed early Tuesday on the Sunshine Skyway bridge.
A state park ranger found the body, and Florida Highway Patrol officials confirmed Friday that it was Henry through a fingerprint match.
Henry's parents reported him missing after his car crashed at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday in the northbound lanes of Interstate 275. The sedan struck the outside wall, went airborne, rolled over and hit the inside concrete barrier wall.
When rescue workers arrived, they couldn't find the driver. FHP officials speculated the driver either got a ride before rescue workers arrived or was thrown from the car into the water below.
U.S. Coast Guard members searched the water around the bridge Tuesday but found nothing.
