NEW PORT RICHEY - An unidentified woman died as she crossed U.S. 19 and was struck by a Chevrolet truck early Saturday, police reported.

The woman, apparently in her 40s or 50s, was not carrying identification. She had been crossing from east to west just south of Main Street about 4 a.m., police said.

The driver of the truck, Grace Yost of Fort Myers, was not injured. Police did not report any charges against her.

Anyone with information about the victim is asked to call Officer Derrick Thivener at (727) 841-4550.
