WHAT HAPPENED: Nothing.

NEXT NEGOTIATING SESSION: None planned.

WHAT THE LIGHTNING WOULD BE DOING: Sixth day of training camp.

THE LATEST: NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and union chief Bob Goodenow will face the fans. They will appear this week on a Canadian national news show on CBC, answering call-in questions from viewers. Bettman will be on tonight; Goodenow will appear Wednesday. The league wants a salary cap to reel in spiraling payrolls, while the NHLPA has instead proposed a luxury tax.
