‘Liberace’ in St. Petersburg

Martin Preston stars in Liberace, the Legend Lives, a show in which the six costumes, rhinestoned piano and crystal candelabra share top billing with the music. "My opening costume has a quarter of a million hand-sewn sequins and beads, not to mention over 10 pounds of cultured seed pearls," says Preston, who has been impersonating Liberace for 14 years. The music includes kitschy staples such as Malaguena, The Beer Barrel Polka and I'll Be Seeing You. Singer William Garon joins the pianist for numbers from Oklahoma! and The Phantom of the Opera. The American Stage presentation has performances at 7:30 tonight, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Palladium Theater, Third Street and Fifth Avenue N, St. Petersburg. $25, $30. (727) 823-7529.
