NEW PORT RICHEY - After a brief car chase, police arrested a 35-year-old man wanted in Illinois on charges of aggravated sexual activity on a child.

An officer attempted to stop Lyle S. Brunson when he was seen swerving in the area of Congress Street and Bandura Avenue in a Chevrolet S-10 Blazer, New Port Richey police said.

He fled, but officers were able to box him in with their cruisers soon afterward, police said.

A computer check then revealed the Illinois warrant.

Brunson was being held in the county jail without bail Thursday.

He faces charges of fleeing to elude, DUI, possession of cocaine and driving with a suspended license.
