More than 1.5-million Florida utility customers are without power today, including more than 400,000 in the Tampa Bay area. Utility companies warned they are short of staff and equipment because of three previous hurricanes and that it could take days to restore power to everyone. In St. Petersburg, Mayor Rick Baker estimated one of every three St. Petersburg utility customers was without power. County totals for utility customers without power in the Tampa Bay area:
  • Pinellas: 160,000.
  • Hillsborough: 184,000.
  • Pasco: 89,000
  • Hernando: 1,000
  • Citrus: 9,000
