Jeanne devastates Haiti
Tropical storm Jeanne caused death and devastation in Haiti last week. The photos in this photo gallery were taken in and around Gonaives, Haiti, by Times photographer Daniel Wallace.

Deforestation has eroded hillsides surrounding Gonaives, causing them to funnel rainwater and mud into the city. On Thursday, floodwaters remained along many streets.
