YMCA to take part in day of play
SPRING HILL - The Hernando County Family YMCA will participate in the Nickelodeon World Wide Day of Play from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Y, 1300 Mariner Blvd.

Democratic group to hold fashion show

Relay for Life meeting set for Monday
BROOKSVILLE - A kickoff meeting for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Brooksville Country Club on Links Drive.
Relay for Life is an annual overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and the society's local programs. During the event, teams of people take turns walking or running laps, with each team keeping at least one team member on the track at all times throughout the night. The local event will be April 29 and 30, 2005, at Tom Varn Park.

Arc Nature Coast meeting is Oct. 12

Candlelight vigil set for Sunday
WEEKI WACHEE - The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill/NAMI Hernando will host a candlelight vigil from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday in recognition of Mental Illness Awareness Week, Oct. 3-9. The vigil will be at Nativity Lutheran Church, 6363 Commercial Way, Weeki Wachee.
Members of the faith community are invited to participate in the program to bring comfort and understanding to those who suffer from the symptoms of a mental illness, as well as to their families. The program will include speakers Dr. Stanley M. Giannet from Pasco-Hernando Community College, and Kristen Whytlaw from the University of South Florida.

The Memory Mobile is a fully equipped mobile office. Services available include memory screenings, information and referral services, family care planning assistance, Safe Return for Wanderers and a variety of literature related to Alzheimer's disease and caregiver concerns. Visitors can view caregiver training videos or talk with an Alzheimer's Association program specialist about their family's specific needs.

PHCC presents free performance
NEW PORT RICHEY - Pasco-Hernando Community college will present a free theatrical performance of Let the Stories Move You, presented by Powerstories Theater, at 7 p.m. Monday in the PHCC Performing Arts Center, 10230 Ridge Road.
Powerstories is an all-female theatrical troupe that performs an inspirational showcase of everyday women telling their life stories through monologues and music. Stories reflect life experiences of motherhood, careers, marriage, divorce, breast cancer, family, abuse and empowerment.
The performance is in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which is commemorated each October. After the performance, there will be a candlelight vigil to remember victims of domestic violence.
