Approved increases to user fees for pavilions and buildings in county parks. As part of the approval, the board also changed the way area athletic leagues pay for use of electric lights. Instead of being charged an hourly fee for actual electric use, leagues will pay the county an annual flat fee for light use.
Lifted for two weeks the $50 permit fee residents usually pay when they want to remove a specimen or majestic tree from their property. While they will not have to pay the fee, residents who wish to get rid of a storm-damaged specimen or majestic still must get a permit. Permits will be issued for removal only if the tree is substantially damaged or a threat to property. Trees that are not a threat or that can recover from storm damage cannot be removed, officials stressed. Residents are asked to call the Development Services Department at 754-4050 if they have questions or would like an inspector to evaluate damage to their trees.
