SUNCOAST ELEMENTARY: PTA parent meeting for the talent show, 7 tonight.

PINE GROVE ELEMENTARY: Accelerated Reader kick-off night for families, 7 tonight in the media center. Learn about the reading program and the rewards for your child.

EASTSIDE ELEMENTARY: Evening book fair for parents and children 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. today.

SPRINGSTEAD HIGH: Fashion Show fundraiser for Eagles football program, 6 p.m. Saturday in Springstead Theater. Call 686-2371 for information.

SPRINGSTEAD HIGH: School advisory council meeting, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Room 310.

START WITH THE ARTS WORKSHOP: For all Hernando County prekindergarten teachers and county-licensed child-care providers, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Exceptional Student Education building. The workshop will show educators how to uniquely combine the arts - visual, drama and dance/movement - into literacy and family involvement. Call Linda at 727-7021 to register.

WEST HERNANDO MIDDLE: PTSA meeting, 7 p.m. Monday in the Media Center.

WESTSIDE ELEMENTARY: Book Fair Family Night with prizes, books and fun, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. today and Oct. 7 in the Media Center.

NEWSMAKERS:

For the second year, Flammer Ford is providing an incentive for Hernando County juniors and seniors to reach for A's and B's or perfect attendance in exchange for a chance to win a 2005 Ford Focus ZX3. Students can enter the drawing after each marking period by bringing in their report cards to Flammer Ford on Commercial Way in Spring Hill and filling out the entry forms. A name will be drawn in May.
