LARGO - After slipping into a restaurant through the roof and finding only pocket change in the cash register, a burglar smashed the front window with a chair to escape, Largo police said .

The burglar took apart a main exhaust fan atop Stavros Restaurant, 2106 East Bay Drive, then crawled through a skinny pipe to enter , owner Stavros Callas said. "This guy came through a pipe that you would not believe, it's so small," he said. "I think you have to be Spiderman or a Slinky or related to Houdini." Once inside, the burglar smashed the cash register but found only a few dollars in change. The intruder left the coins but smashed the front window with a chair, triggering an alarm. Though nothing was taken, Callas said repairs will cost thousands of dollars. The restaurant remained closed until midafternoon Thursday but will open at 11 a.m. today, Callas said. Police reported no arrests. Call Largo police at 587-6730 with information.
