ZEPHYRHILLS - A 29-year-old man was stabbed in the chest early Thursday morning and a 40-year-old man was later arrested, Pasco sheriff's officials said.

Deputies arrested Francis Damian Straughn of Cameo Street at 2:37 a.m. He is accused of stabbing Kevin Warren Stevens in the chest with a knife while talking to him at 4233 Gall Blvd. No. 10.

A 30-year-old woman told deputies she noticed Stevens bleeding at the scene and attempted to get the tag number on the vehicle Straughn was driving away. Straughn allegedly tried to strike her with the vehicle.

Stevens was treated and released from East Pasco Medical Center. Straughn faces charges of aggravated battery and aggravated assault and was being held at the county jail in lieu of $30,000 bail.
