Modin is the 41st NHL player to join the Swedish league because of the lockout, which could cancel the season.

Modin, 29, is coming off a career-best 57-point season in which he scored 29 goals and helped the Lightning to their first-ever Stanley Cup title. He added 19 points in 23 playoff games.

In 585 career NHL regular season games, he has scored 152 goals and 156 assists for 308 points.

SUNSHINE REPLAYS: Sunshine Network will air replays of the Lightning's eight victories in the Eastern Conference final and Stanley Cup final. The broadcasts, from Canada's CBC and TSN, will begin on Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.

SABRES: Forward Adam Mair was arrested following a bar fight in Hamilton, Ontario, early Tuesday morning.
