PORT RICHEY - The Pasco Sheriff's Office has identified the man whose body was found lying in a woman's yard early Tuesday morning.

The cause of death for Michael John Mitchell, 37, of Enterprise Drive in Port Richey remains unknown, sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll said.

"The autopsy results are inconclusive so it's going to be pending toxicology results ... which could take up to six weeks," Doll said.

The woman told deputies that she heard banging outside her home in the Gulf Highlands subdivision at about 4:30 a.m. She looked out and saw a man trying to get into her garage, she said. After several minutes, she went outside and saw him lying on his back in her front yard.

Mitchell was soon pronounced dead at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. There were cuts and scrapes on several parts of his body.
