A pair of innovative chamber music groups are in the Tampa Bay area. The CavaniString Quartet, above, has been involved in residency activity in Pinellas County this week, under the auspices of the Mahaffey Theater education department, and will give a concert of quartets by Beethoven Op. 95, Dvorak (American, Op. 96) and Margaret Brouwer (Demeter Prelude) at 8 p.m. Friday at the Palladium Theater. $25. The Ahn Trio, below, performs its "Ahn-Plugged" program, an alternative format that mixes and matches the modern with the traditional, such as an arrangement of the Doors' Riders on the Storm, a Michael Nyman song from the movie The Piano and the Tchaikovsky A-minor trio. "Our main goal is to add people to our audiences, people who normally would not go to classical concerts," violinist Angella Ahn says. The piano trio performs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Ferguson Hall of Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. $19.50, $32.50. 813 229-7827 or toll-free 1-800-955-1045; www.tbpac.org
