Aerial acrobatics return to the skies over downtown St. Petersburg Saturday and Sunday during the Suncoast Air Fest.

A similar festival last year celebrated the 75th anniversary of the waterfront airport. This year's event will feature the AeroShell Aerobatic Team - which flies the World War II North American Advanced Trainer, used in the 1940s to train American and Canadian cadets - as well as other air show pilots. Air shows are at noon Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.

Displays on the ground will include historic, military, vintage and experimental aircraft and classic cars. There also will be music, kids' activities and food. Festival hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The airport is at 107 Eighth Ave. SE, St. Petersburg. Tickets: $10 advance, $12 day of show adults, $5 ages 6-12. 727 822-1532; or www.suncoastairfest.com.
