Stroll into the new art season

Kingdon Alan Gallery, 70 Beach Drive NE, St. Petersburg, starts its fall season with a show of work by Bascove, Antonio Caparello, Fran Hardy, Duncan McClellan, Leslie Neumann, Jules Burt, Bradley Kachnowicz, Allison Massari and Yasuko Nakamura, whose ceramic vessels and objects, one of which is shown above, radiate serene elegance. It's one of about two dozen galleries that stay open late Saturday for the Downtown Arts Association Art Walk. Another interesting venue on the monthly walk is ArtSpace, artists' studios located above Florida Craftsmen Gallery. Many of the artists will be on hand. Don't be shy about going in. Even if you make no purchases, artists love to talk about art.

Most galleries in the Tampa Bay area offer new exhibitions this month. Check them out; many are listed in our calendar pages. They're wonderful places to do some early holiday shopping. And mark your calendars for the Graphicstudio sale in Tampa Oct. 15, Florida Craftsmen's CraftArt in St. Petersburg Oct. 30-31 and the Dunedin Art Harvest Nov. 6-7.
