Looking for that big-game win from Simms

Published October 10, 2004

He never won a big game while at Texas and won't win one here either. Unlike the Mannings, this acorn fell far from the tree. As a Giants fan I saw his father from Day 1, and Chris isn't his daddy, not by a long shot. Maybe if the offensive line wasn't so bad the kid might have a shot. Until the Yucs get folks who can block and a burner who can spread the field, the one thing he'll have in common with his dad will be spending 16 Sundays flat on his back, trying to clear his head.

-- Bill Hoyler, Palm Harbor

It's time to wake up and let Chris Simms play football. I'm giving odds he can't do any worse!

-- John Kauzlarich, Largo

Rich McKay is 4-0; Tony Dungy is 3-1 and has one of the most potent offenses in the league.

The Allen-Gruden combination has dismantled a Super Bowl championship team in 18 months. It's appropriate that the current GM for the Bucs shares the name of Bucco Bruce because these guys, along with the dynamic duo of Bryan and Joel Glazer, have the organization on the fast track back to the Culverhouse era.

Perhaps the Glazers should stick with the other type of football; they seem to have more interest for Manchester United.

-- Dan Davis, Clearwater

Brad Johnson may be losing some of his talent, but my heart goes out to him. In his defense, however, with that sieve of an offensive line, what would one expect? My sincere sympathy to any/all of his replacements!

-- Linda M. Hill, Seminole [Last modified October 10, 2004, 00:54:25]
