FORT LAUDERDALE - Federal and state officials pumped fuel off a 600-foot freighter Saturday in attempts to refloat the cement ship that grounded while trying to anchor outside Port Everglades.

The Panamanian-flagged Federal Pescadores had 588 tons of bunker oil and 105 tons of diesel fuel on board when it ran aground about a half-mile offshore Wednesday. The Coast Guard said there were no signs of pollution and no injuries.

The Florida Marine Research Institute divers will survey the reef after the ship moves to determine if there was any damage.

The incident was under investigation. No charges have been filed.
