THE 38TH ANNUAL RATTLESNAKE FESTIVAL will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at San Antonio City Park, San Antonio. The park is off State Road 52 about 2 miles east of Interstate 75. Admission to the festival is free; tickets to the snake show are $4 for adults, $2 for ages 12 and younger. There will be a cracker-style barbecue, fish fry, arts and crafts, entertainment, educational wildlife exhibits, mock gopher tortoise races, classic cars (Sunday only), a four by four race (Saturday only), pony rides for kids and other activities.

PIANIST/SINGER LILLETTE JENKINS-WISNER will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center, 324 Pine St. Tickets are $12. Call 942-5605.

HERNANDO HARMONIZERS and the Suncoast Harmony barbershop harmony groups will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church, 13123 U.S. 19, Hudson (a mile north of State Road 52). Hernando Harmonizers is a 20-member male chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Suncoast Harmony is a 45-member chapter of Sweet Adelines International. A donation will be accepted.

L'IL PEARL AND FAT DADDY rhythm 'n blues group will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs as part of the Sunset Beach Concert Series. There will be children's activities at the intermission. The city's recreation department will sell box picnic boxes with hot dog, chips, potato salad and a cookie for $3, as well as soft drinks and water. Those who attend should bring blankets or lawn chairs. Picnics are welcome.

THE FOUNDERS DAY ANTIQUES APPRAISAL FAIR will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Richey Suncoast Theatre, 6238 Grand Blvd., New Port Richey. Appraisal experts will give oral estimates of worth on a variety of antiques, collectibles, fine and decorative art and other objects for $5 an object.

ARTISTS GLADYS DEPRIAS and Harry Farmlett are exhibiting their work, Landscapes and Seascapes of the World, at Progress Energy Art Gallery, 6231 Grand Blvd., New Port Richey through Oct. 29. The exhibit is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays.

THE CHASCO CAMERA CLUB of New Port Richey is exhibiting more than 35 photos taken around Tarpon Springs at the Tarpon Springs Heritage Museum, 100 Beekman Lane (Craig Park). Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays through Oct. 29. Admission is $2.

"THE SKY'S THE LIMIT,' the West Pasco Art Guild's All-Member Art Show, continues through Oct. 23 at the guild's gallery, 6206 Jefferson St., New Port Richey. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.

"MYTHS OF THE ANCIENT AMERICAS,' a series of paintings by Aurora M. Heuple based on the ancient Aztec and Mayans, continues through Oct. 29 at the Pasco Arts Center, 5744 Moog Road, Holiday. Viewing hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.

CONTEMPORARY GEOMETRIC WORKS by French artist Auguste Herbin and others are at Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art, 600 Klosterman Road (2 blocks west of U.S. 19), Tarpon Springs, through Oct. 24. Admission to the museum is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and free to children and students with ID. Sundays are free to all. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, 5 to 9 p.m. Thursdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays.

"ARTISTS OF 34689 - SMALL TOWN, BIG TALENT,' an exhibit of artists from Zip Code 34689, continues through Nov. 24 at Tarpon Springs Cultural Center, 100 S Pinellas Ave. (Alt. 19). Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays. An artists' reception is 5 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 6.

AUDITIONS AND WORKSHOPS

GOTTA DANCE STUDIO will hold auditions for dancers, singers and actors ages 7 and older to be in its holiday show, A Very Merry Christmas, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 8 to 9 p.m. Monday at the studio, 9721 U.S. 19, suite 13 (upstairs, across from Olive Garden), Port Richey. Those who audition should prepare a song, dance or monologue. Production dates are Nov. 26-28 at Stage West Community Playhouse in Spring Hill. ANGEL CABARET THEATRE will hold auditions for A Christmas Cabaret by appointment only on Oct. 25 for ages 7-12 who can sing and move well. LOOK AHEAD

NEW PORT RICHEY'S FOUNDERS DAY will be celebrated Oct. 22-24 in and around Sims Park. The event features a carnival, arts and crafts, Miss Daisy boat tours, pony rides, petting zoo, food and entertainment. Entertainment includes contemporary Christian music singers Bryan Duncan at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22 and Desert Rain at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23. The featured event on Oct. 24 is the Sunset Corvette Club's car show at Orange Lake.

THE FLORIDA ORCHESTRA will opens its Pasco County season at 3 p.m. Oct. 24 with "The French Connection," a sampling of fantasy-laden and dreamlike harmonies by Ravel, Ibert and Debussy. The concert features harpist Anna Katie Mackle and will be conducted by Susan Haig. Tickets are $21.50-$26.50. Call toll-free 1-800-662-7286.

CENTENNIAL OPERA GROUP will play a video of Beethoven's Fidelio at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at Centennial Library, 5740 Moog Road, Holiday (1.2 miles east of U.S. 19). The video stars Finnish soprano Jarita Matilla as Leonore and Bryn Terfel as Florestan.

COUNTRY/BLUES/GOSPEL SINGER LEON RUSSELL will perform at 9:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Bourbon Street Concert Club, 4331 U.S. 19, New Port Richey. Tickets are $12 at the door. Call (727) 843-0686 for information.

THE BAY AREA SAXOPHONE QUARTET and organist Barbara Gossard will play selections by Bach, Handel, Mozart and Debussy at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Presbyterian Church of Seven Springs, 4651 Little Road, New Port Richey. The group will also play the world premiere of Kevin March's Dance Suite. The concert is part of the church's Community Concert Series. There is no admission charge, but a donation will be accepted.
