Gemini squad is a winner in Tampa event

Gemini Gymnastics competed in the Gasparilla Classic at Lightning City in Tampa, and the Level 6 team took first place.

Joette Amundary posted victories on the bars, vault and beam and finished first all-around with a score of 36.075. Amy Crumbley was first on vault and second on bars. Destiny Ezell recorded a bars win, second on vault and in the floor exercise and runner-up performance in all-around competition. Anna Yatskar was first on vault, in floor and all-around.

The organization's Level 5 squad placed fifth. Rachel Biana had vault and bars victories, a second in the floor event and was first all-around . Taylor McClure topped vault and bars competition and claimed second all-around.

Emily Sayas logged a win on the beam and was a bars, floor and all-around runner-up.

For the fifth-place Level 4 team, Allie Reigh Heller was second on bars and all-around. Kayla Johnson won the vault.

Kendra Pacho took second in floor, as did Zoe Robinson. Fabienne Schmid was a runner-up on vault and bars, in floor and all-around.

Lindsey Walker was victorious on vault, in floor, on bars and all-around. Tatyana Zamkovaya captured first on beam and second on bars and all-around.

MORE GYMNASTICS: The Level 4 team from LaFleur's of Largo competed in the Hurricane Invite. Rachel Whisenant came in first on the beam, fourth on the bars, fifth on the vault and third all-around. Kaitlin Green was third all-around.

Rebeca Lizotte turned in a winning vault performance and placed fourth on bars, beam and all-around. Alia Davis was fifth on beam and eighth all-around.

Laura Meunier claimed second on vault, third on bars, fourth in floor competition and sixth all-around. Tiffany Shirley won the vault, was second on bars, fourth on beam, seventh in floor and fourth all-around.

Olivia McCoy and Yarelis Rodriguez were seventh all-around.

The Tampa Bay Turners placed first in Level 4 and 5 and second in Level 6 at the Gasparilla Classic.

Leading the way for the Level 4 team was Casey Pluchino and Melissa Franklin, who were first on the beam, in the floor event and all-around. Sarah Devoe posted bars and floor wins and a fourth in all-around. Abigail Campbell was tops on beam and all-around.

Madalyn Golightly took first on vault, beam and all-around. Debbie Chen had vault, bars and all-around victories.

Others placing in the top five were Thea Fries, Kayna Mogelnicki, Hannah Caneel and Nathania Beltran.

In Level 5 for the club, Therese Byrne was first on the vault, beam and all-around. Christina Pheil enjoyed vault, bars, floor and all-around wins.

Sarah Hill captured first on beam and all-around. Bianca Rawson posted beam, floor and all-around victories.

Mansie Hough was first in the floor event, and Ivy Hussung topped vault competition.

Others in the top 10 were Jeanna Cube, Keri Linnemeyer, Taylor Salazar, Ashley Rhoads, Dannie Edmonds, Cortni Claar, Melissa Tobin, Emily Tongdee, Kelsey Knopp and Danielle Glowatsky.

For the runner-up Level 6 squad, Rhianna Davis was first on the bars and Sara McCammack won on the beam.

Other top-10 performers were Kylie Moran, McKenzie Smith, Erin Pluchino, Shelby Hilton and Alex Hagan.

BASEBALL: The Riptide 16-and-under team won the first tournament it entered.

The squad posted a 5-0 record in the Fall Classic IBC in Bradenton, outscoring opponents 43-12.

The offensive leaders were Billy Falasco (eight hits), Chris Calhoon and Joey Cuda (six) and Trey Wright and Brad McAllister (five).

Others producing at the plate were Shaun Starnes and Scooter Gennett.

Jennings George, Brian Ackerman, T.J. Becker, Falasco and Calhoon were the winning pitchers. Falasco threw a complete game in a 4-2 championship victory over the West Florida Young Guns.
