Editor: I have just read the article on Wal-Mart's proposal for a supercenter at Beacon Woods Drive. I am shocked that a Pasco County traffic consultant recommended putting a traffic signal at the proposed entrance and exit from Wal-Mart to Beacon Woods Drive.
It is a completely idiotic recommendation, one that should be investigated by county commissioners.
Does the county have any idea what that would do to Beacon Woods Drive? I suggest that this individual come down to the area and visualize just what havoc this would create.
Ladies and gentlemen, there is no way that an entrance or exit is feasible on Beacon Woods Drive. You all better start looking for an alternative solution.

New traffic light is a bit premature
Editor: Who installs traffic signals in the county along our state roads without fair warning?
I am speaking of the new traffic light on State Road 54 and the Long Leaf subdivision entrance. We never received any advance notice. Maybe I missed it, but I never noticed a traffic device counting cars in this area. If this was done, they would have noticed the almost nonexistent traffic coming out of the subdivision and the countless cars along SR 54. Now we have this new light to make our commutes even more congested.
If you have driven on SR 54 at rush hour in the past week, you know what I am talking about.
I really am thankful for all of the hard work that has gone into the expansion along SR 54 over the past year and a half. It is going to be a necessity for all of the new homeowners who have just moved or are building in this area. I am asking for help with our commute through this rough time of construction. This light is a bit premature, since the new lanes are still under construction. Please reconsider keeping this light from operating until the construction is complete.
Change the light to a flashing yellow along SR 54 and flashing red for the subdivision. This would keep the flow of traffic continuous along SR 54.
