AUBURN, Ala. - Jason Campbell was so focused on this game he couldn't sleep Friday night.
Then he turned in the kind of performance that could give defensive coordinators nightmares, throwing a career-high 297 yards and three touchdowns to lead Auburn over Arkansas 38-20 on Saturday.
With Campbell completing 17-of-19 - all in the first three quarters - the Tigers won their ninth straight.
"All night, I couldn't go to sleep," said Campbell, who was 11-of-12 for 210 yards in the first half. "I was just thinking about the game. It was just one of those days one day you'll look back on and be proud of."
The Tigers continue to forge a memorable season as well, scoring on their first five possessions for a 30-0 lead against a team that had given them fits in recent years. Twice in the past three meetings, an unranked Razorbacks team routed Auburn.
Not this time.
Arkansas all but fell out of contention in the SEC West. Quarterback Matt Jones spent much of the game under pressure. The league's total offense leader hurt his groin on the game's first play, but was able to scamper for 54 yards the one time he got free.
"It changed the game," said Jones, who didn't gain any yards on his other three carries. "On the long run, that is six (points) if I am not hurt. I just didn't throw very well."
It was still the most points any team had scored against Auburn this year.
The 54-yard burst briefly made Jones the SEC's top career rushing quarterback. But he got sacked for a 9-yard loss on the next drive, pushing him back to a tie with John Bond of Mississippi State at 2,280 yards.
GEORGIA 33, VANDY 0: David Greene passed for two touchdowns and ran for another, leading the host Bulldogs. Georgia's freshmen running backs both went over 100 yards, the first Bulldogs pair to accomplish that feat in 12 years. Danny Ware rushed for 127 yards and Thomas Brown had 122, including a touchdown. Garrison Hearst and Mack Strong were the last 100-yard duo in a 1992 victory over South Carolina.
Greene became just the sixth player in conference history to pass for 10,000 yards in his career, and he picked up his 37th victory, breaking a tie with College Football Hall of Famer Johnny Rauch to become the winningest quarterback in Georgia history. Greene is two wins from Peyton Manning's NCAA record.
Vanderbilt is one defeat from its 22nd straight losing season. Georgia piled up a season-high 527 yards, holding the Commodores to 187. Greene completed 14-of-21 for 191 yards, including a pair of TDs in the third.
ALABAMA 27, SO. MISS 3: Kenneth Darby rushed for 197 yards and scored two touchdowns, one on a run and one on a pass, for the host Crimson Tide. It was Alabama's first win against a ranked opponent in almost two years. Darby, filling in for the injured Ray Hudson, had eight straight carries on one drive in the first half and finished with 6.8 yards per rush on 29 carries.
Southern Miss had averaged almost 29 points per game, but never got untracked against Alabama. The Tide limited the Golden Eagles to 148 yards rushing and 23 yards passing. Southern Miss has won six in 42 games against the Tide.
SO. CAROLINA 12, KY. 7: Fourth-string quarterback Michael Rathe threw a 19-yard touchdown to Troy Williamson with 1:28 left, lifting the visiting Gamecocks. South Carolina had five turnovers, one more than Kentucky. Rathe, a senior who had appeared in two games this season and completed only one pass, entered with 6:29 left and the Gamecocks trailing 7-6. He was 5-of-7 for 57 yards on the 88-yard drive and received two breaks on the incompletions as Kentucky's Vincent Burns and Mike Williams each dropped potential interceptions.
