BROOKSVILLE - A 33-year-old handyman was charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery after he and another suspect were accused of robbing a homeless man of $20 in Brooksville, police said.

Byron K. Burch of 16117 Sarasota St. was arrested on Friday after the victim saw him walking in the vicinity of the alleged robbery and contacted authorities. A Brooksville police officer discovered blood on Burch's pants, an arrest report stated. Bail was set at $25,000.

The robbery occurred about 7:50 p.m. Friday in a wooded area north of the Hernando Plaza on Broad Street, when someone allegedly grabbed the victim from behind and threatened him with a box cutter. The victim told a police officer that during the incident another man held down his feet, the report said. During a struggle, the victim suffered cuts to his thumb and left arm. The case is still under investigation.
