Candidate response

Published October 20, 2004

The recent recommendation citing the fact that I will get fresh blood flowing at the government center to restore fiscal responsibility was very much appreciated.

Comments such as citing the fact that my opponent will do nothing to rein in the extravagant spending that this commission has engaged in should certainly help voters to focus on the issue of who is the best candidate in the District 5 Commission race to rein in outrageous county spending.

Oh, wait a minute. That recommendation came from the conservative local edition of the Tampa Tribune, as opposed to the liberal St. Petersburg Times. We must remember that difference. The Tampa Tribune's local edition of Hernando Today represents the far more fiscally conservative views of this county. Contrast that with some of the endorsements from other than the St. Petersburg Times: "We must elect candidates that have a passion to reduce government intervention into our lives."

That is just what Janey Baldwin's candidacy is all about. I need your vote to restore fiscal responsibility to this county and to ensure that we prioritize our needs as a growing county, as opposed to blindly funding every half-baked idea that wastes your hard-earned tax dollars.
