The Wiggles fans may be small - most of them are younger than 6 - but there surely are a lot of them. The Wiggles' albums and DVDs have sold millions of copies in the United States alone.
The Wiggles are like a boy band for preschoolers, except that they write all their own music. Anthony Field (who always wears a blue shirt), Murray Cook (red shirt) and Greg Page (yellow) met while studying early childhood education at a college in Sydney, Australia. They began writing children's songs for a project and recruited Jeff Fatt (purple shirt), who had played in a band with Field in the '80s, to join them.
The Wiggles became national treasures in Australia, and their television show on the Disney Channel and videos launched them to Barney status in the United States.
Some suggestions for maximum enjoyment of a Wiggles concert: Wear the color of your favorite Wiggle. Take roses to be collected for Dorothy the Dinosaur (she likes to eat them). And, of course, take a camera.
Tickets are $15-$30. The shows are at 1:30 and 5 p.m. Saturday at the St. Pete Times Forum, 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa. (813) 301-2500 or Ticketmaster.
