UCF AT MIAMI (OHIO), 7: UCF (0-6, 0-3) is off to its worst start since 1982, when the Golden Knights went 0-10 in their first season playing in Division II. It has been the same every week for UCF as the team has worked its way through its final Mid-American Conference schedule: hope the offensive line shows improvement, look for sophomore quarterback Steven Moffett to get a bit better, pray that veteran running back Alex Haynes carries the Golden Knights to victory. Haynes was injured last week. UCF lost 26-21 to Akron.
SAVANNAH STATE AT FLORIDA A&M, 3: If any team needs a homecoming game, its FAMU (2-5), which is coming off a 62-0 loss at Virginia Tech, its worst drubbing since 1926. Savannah State (1-4) could be the ideal opponent. The Tigers are I-AA independents and have lost their past four games by an average of 47-15. Look for quarterback Ben Dougherty and receivers Roosevelt Kiser and Ronnie Thomas to have a big day.
LA.-MONROE AT FAU, 4: After five road victories to open the season, FAU comes home to (the Owls hope) some well-deserved fanfare. Future Sun Belt League opponent Louisiana-Monroe (2-4) has won two straight, including a come-from-behind 28-20 victory last week over Florida International at home. FAU, which has won 15 of its past 16 games, has three victories this season over weaker I-A teams.
MCNEESE STATE AT FIU, 6: After a close loss at Louisiana-Monroe that was filled with what coach Don Strock called inexcusable mistakes, FIU (2-2) is looking for its first win at home. McNeese State (2-4) has lost three in a row but likely will be a challenge . The teams have one common opponent: Youngstown State, which FIU beat 22-16 in OT in September and McNeese State beat 24-20 a week later. Running back Rashod Smith leads FIU with an average of 102 yards.
