Roll call

By ROGER MILLS
Published October 24, 2004

HEY, CATCH UP: In Buffalo last weekend, Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor had no sacks and no tackles. But after reviewing tape, the sack machine fired off this classic: "I had some tackles this past game. It was the people up there in the box that do those stats. Half the time they're spilling ketchup on themselves and trying to wipe it off."

NICE PACE: Bucs receiver Michael Clayton has 31 catches for 443 yards and one touchdown, which puts him in some good company. Through six games in 2003, Cardinals rookie Anquan Boldin had 39 catches for 592 yards and two touchdowns. Boldin was the offensive rookie of the year and finished with 101 catches for 1,377 yards and eight TDs.

HISTORIC MEETING: According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Sunday's game between the Cardinals and Seahawks will feature the first meeting between the NFL's all-time leading rusher, Emmitt Smith (17,771 yards), and its all-time leading receiver, Jerry Rice (1,524 receptions), since a Dec. 3, 1984, game between the Bears (Walter Payton, 12,980 yards) and Chargers (Charlie Joiner, 651 catches), won by San Diego 20-7.
