TALLAHASSEE - Ben Dougherty accounted for six first-half touchdowns Saturday, helping Florida A&M roll up 626 yards of offense and a 50-14 victory over Savannah State.
Dougherty - who only played the opening two quarters - completed 14 of 19 passes for 260 yards and four touchdowns, and ran for two more touchdowns to bolster Florida A&M's march to a 36-0 halftime lead.
Roosevelt Kiser caught a pair of Dougherty's touchdowns; Gerard Morgan and Ronnie Thomas caught the others for the Rattlers (3-5).
Clyde Tullis had a pair of second-half touchdown passes for Savannah State (1-5).
Tullis threw a 75-yard scoring pass to Khalil Hasan, and a 10-yard pass to Brian Thompson with 4:31 remaining to close the scoring.
Tullis was 22-of-38 for 329 yards, keying Savannah State's 493-yard total offense effort.
Hasan was his top receiver, catching seven balls for 155 yards. Myshun McAlpine had a game-best 76 rushing yards on 21 carries, and Thompson had six catches for 63 yards - but the Tigers were hurt badly by four turnovers.
Rod Miller caught five passes for 105 yards for Florida A&M, which also ran the ball 26 times for 266 yards.
McNEESE STATE 30, FIU 27: John Marino's 48-yard field goal with 3:25 remaining capped a furious comeback for the visiting Cowboys.
Adam Moss' school-record 52-yard field goal with 6:53 left in the third gave FIU a 27-7 lead, but McNeese State scored the game's final 23. Kris Bush, Chris Thomas and Henry Smith had second-half rushing touchdowns for the Cowboys (3-4). Thomas finished with game highs of 31 carries and 172 yards.
Josh Padrick completed only 13 of 31 passes for 204 yards for FIU (2-3). Padrick did throw for two scores, a 10-yarder to Harold Leath to open the scoring in the first quarter and a 13-yard strike to Chandler Williams that gave the Golden Panthers a 24-0 lead with 10:47 left in the half.
Nick Turnbull had a 25-yard interception return in the first quarter for another Florida International touchdown. McNeese State starter Scott Pendarvis left after throwing interceptions on the Cowboys' first two drives; he was replaced by Chris Jones, who completed 17 of 22 passes for 251 yards.
Jones hit Jason Miller with an 8-yard touchdown pass for the Cowboys' first points, 6:24 before halftime.
Rashod Smith ran 19 times for 72 yards for FIU, which was outgained 510-281.
MIAMI (OHIO) 43, UCF 7: Josh Betts threw for 288 yards and a score, and Brandon Murphy and Luke Clemens rushed for two touchdowns each for the visiting RedHawks. Betts threw a 34-yard touchdown to Ryne Robinson and Murphy scored on runs of 51 and 4 yards in the fourth, when Miami (5-3) scored 23 to break open a 20-7 game.
The Golden Knights (0-7) were held to 88 yards rushing and 72 yards passing, but stayed close because of three Miami turnovers. The RedHawks lost a fumble and Betts, who completed 24 of 40 passes, threw two interceptions.
Clemens ran 19 times for 79 yards and Murphy had 75 yards rushing on nine carries. Miami ran for 206 yards on 38 carries and finished with 494 yards on offense.
LA.-MONROE 17, FAU 13: Mason Denham ran 67 yards for a touchdown for the visiting Indians, who snapped the Owls' season-opening five-game winning streak.
Louisiana-Monroe safety Chris Harris had three interceptions, including two that stopped Florida Atlantic's final two drives.
Quarterback Steven Jyles threw for 202 yards for Louisiana-Monroe (3-4). Doug Parker rushed 24 times for a game-high 121 yards for Florida Atlantic (5-1). Jared Allen completed 18 of 34 passes for 260 yards.
MOREHEAD STATE 28, JU 14: The host Eagles scored 15 third-quarter points to erase a one-point halftime deficit. Morehead State outgained Jacksonville 196-50 in the second half and limited the Dolphins to 37 rushing yards total.
